Massive skill tree with 1000+ nodes and “sub classes” per class. If all of that sounds appealing, go for it.
League mechanics often get baked into the core game after the league is done (much like D4 has promised) which created this bloat of currency and systems that you dont know what to engage with, whats important, what to ignore. Sometimes theres a league boss, other times there isnt.

Each league is, generally, very similar to previous leagues in structure: Theres a currency that is spent or used in a way to upgrade gear or progress further through the league mechanic. The game also bloated to the gills with systems and currency from previous leagues. With that said, it has the most build diversity out there out of any ARPG, although there is the argument that there is the illusion of choice in that game… since if youre a life based character you will always take scion life wheel (for example). Some find it fun, but I guess they just like seeing things die really quickly instead of having to make some sort of thought or decision when in combat. The moment to moment gameplay of the game is not engaging, its not interesting. It will likely continue with the one button screen clears (sometimes two screens in one button press) with a mobility skill that zooms you through an area in seconds. POE2 gameplay will not change much from POE in that it will likely continue with the over-the-top complexity (complexity just for complexity sake). We’ll know more in a month or so at exilecon.
