Edward Echols, of Staunton, died at the home of her parents on Tuesday, after an illness of a month from typhoid fever, and was buried in the "Old Paxton Cemetery," near Glasgow. Glasgow, Va., September 3: Miss Mildred Echols, the only daughter of Mr. Dabney, president of the University of Tennessee and Assistant Secretary of Agriculture under President Cleveland is his son. Dabney, one of the most prominent educators of the South, died at his home here today. He was a gentleman and a scholar, and Philanthropist and one of rare class of men, who live through life unreproach and die without an enemy. He received in early liberal education, and was a graduate of the Medical School of Philadelphia. Campbell was of Rockbridge, and one of the earliest practioners of medicine in it. During that time he was also manager of the "Blue Hotel," a boarding house for the students of the University. He came to Lexington in 1869, and for fourteen years was proctor of Washington and Lee University. For a number of years he was engaged in agricultural pursuits, at one time owning and farming "Clay Spring," Henry Clay's old plantation in Hanover county. Anderson was born in Richmond November 15, 1828, and was educated in the shcools of that city and at the University of Virginia. For some years past he had been failing in health, and the immediate cause of his death was old age and a complication of diseases.

John Randolph Anderson died at his home here on Jefferson street. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ashby Alexander, a brother and sister Annie Johnson and a special nuece, Barbara Gooch.
